George Cron and Leo Spirito Inducted into Elizabeth Athletic Hall of Fame
On May 1st, 2003 the Elizabeth Athletic Hall of Fame honored ASA members George Cron, past Commissioner of NJ State ASA and Leo Spirito, current NJ State ASA Commissioner. James Powers, NJ ASA Deputy UIC, was also honored.
More than 300 attended to pay tribute to the 12 inductees. Hall of Fame Chairman Ed Jackus and Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage, both past ASA umpires, presented the awards.
George Cron, who served as Director of Parks and Recreation, was NJ State ASA Commissioner for over 50 years until his death in 1994. Leo Spirito, who was George's Deputy Commissioner, was nominated to replace George as Commissioner upon his passing. Mr. Spirito has held the position with distinction since. Both Commissioners have provided decades of service and support to the ASA softball community in New Jersey.

Union County ASA Hall of Fame

Linda Lensch and George Brokaw have been inducted into the Union County ASA Softball Hall of Fame. This honor has been established as a tribute to those individuals and organizations with an outstanding record of contribution and support to ASA softball in Union County, New Jersey.

We congratulate Mr. Brokaw and Ms. Lensch as the Hall of Fame's inaugural members!!

ASA MEDALS PROGRAM RECOGNIZES LOCAL UMPIRES
The ASA has implemented a Medals Program designed to reward individual umpires for reaching various levels of performance and years of service. It recognizes the importance of the vast majority of umpires who work local assignments and strive to be the best they can be. The program is a show of pride in umpiring.
